Rainier track and field gears up for state

With the end in sight, the Rainer track and field team ran towards the finish line in the district track and field meet last week. Competing at Yamhill Carlton and Hayward Field at the University of Oregon put the athletes to the test for the riveting opportunity of going to state. With Rainier pride, they throw, jump, sprint, and glide. Throughout this season, everyone has enjoyed trying new things and developing new skills. One of the highlights was staying out in Pinkstaff's beach house for one of our coastal meets. The athletes always have fun cheering on and supporting each other, especially when we had our home meet in Clatskanie. Pinkstaff, Sydney, and Carter are all amazing coaches and have prepared the athletes for greatness, encouraging us and pushing us closer to the finish line with each step we take. Our team is excited to finish the year with our hearts in the sport and our minds in the game. With determination, speed, and precision we strive to show our efforts. I can say that this was definitely worth the four years of fun and refining I've had, especially when I see the outcome. Carma Tygret is a student in the Rainier School District. Student submissions are welcome. Send emails to kirk@waheagle.com.
