Though Clatskanie Heritage Days began last weekend, a bulk of the activities will be taking place Friday, July 4, starting with the parade. For those wanting to enter the parade, the line forms at 10 a.m. A waiver/adult responsibility form will need to be completed by each entrant the morning of the parade. Marching units and horse entries form at Clatskanie Elementary School, and motorized units are to form at Clatskanie Middle/High School and enter via the front entrance off Bel Air Drive. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and will take place along Nehalem/NE 5th streets. Following the parade, music will be provided by Spencer William Booth on the stage at Clatskanie City Park from noon to 2 p.m. Also starting at noon are the photo booth and dunk tank, as well as Rich Larsen Memorial Kiwanis Bingo. The photo booth and dunk tank run until 4 p.m. The park will also be host to kids center activities (bounce houses, etc.) from noon to 4:30 p.m. A game truck will be at the park from noon to 4 p.m. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the park will be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, as well as a logging exhibition and free cartoon caricature artist drawings. The logging exhibition runs until 4 p.m., and the caricature drawings run until 4:30 p.m. Beginning at 1 p.m., a softball game will take place at the field along 5th Street
The Clatskanie City Pool, located at 300 NE Park St., will be holding a free swim from 1 to 4 p.m. A rubber duck race will take place in the Clatskanie River at a time to be determined. Beginning on the Clatskanie City Park stage at 4:15 p.m. will be the button raffle drawings. Raffle prizes will include gift baskets from Berry Patch, Colvins Pub & Grill, Farmhouse Coffee, Flowers ‘n Fluff, Hi-School Pharmacy, Wauna Credit Union. Other raffle prizes include a family pool party package from Clatskanie Parks & Recreation, and outdoor patio package from Clatskanie Fire District, an emergency kit from Clatskanie PUD, a one-night stay at clatskanie River Inn, and five red-light therapy sessions from Clatskanie Tan LLC and Wellness Salon.
The 234th Army Country Band will be performing on the main stage from 7 to 10 p.m., and the evening will be capped off at dark with the Fireworks Spectacular. Food and vendors will be on site all day. The Clatskanie Chamber of Commerce issued a thank you to the “Heritage Days Heroes” for their sponsorship. These “heroes” include Clatskanie PUD, Port of Columbia County, Evenson Logging Company, Hudson Garbage Service, Kiwanis International, Clatskanie Club; Clatskanie Builders Supply, Clatskanie Mobil, Greg & Debi Smiley, NXTCLEAN Fuels, Flowers ‘n Fluff, River’s Edge RV Resort and Camping, CMW Books LLC, PGE, Wauna Credit Union, Fultano’s Pizza, Colvins Pub & Grill, Umpqua Bank, Kynsi Construction, Clatskanie Parks & Rec, Clatskanie Fire District, Lucas & Nikole Young and the Donation Jar Donors. The Chamber also recognized sponsors for the bark dust sale, which include Stimson Lumber, RSG Forest Products, Groat Brothers, Swanson Bark & Wood, Beaver Bark, Kynsi Construction, Clatskanie Builders Supply, Bradley A Mckay, and Chris Martin.
