Church news

Grays River Methodist church Sunday school will hold a “Bring Your Own Hot /Dog” picnic to begin at 9:30 a.m. on September 7. This includes all age groups. Everyone is welcome, especially those in the area who are not attending any Sunday School. It should be fun.

On September 14, the Sunday school will have a “Get It all Together Day” to organize classes, and begin the teaching year.

School news

A reminder for kindergarten mothers of Grays River Valley school—next Tuesday is our work day at the kindergarten.

Kindergarten class will begin on Wednesday also, and be held again on Thursday. Next week they will go on the regular Tuesday-Thursday schedule.

Al-Anon meetings are held at the Naselle Lutheran church every Monday night at 7:30 p.m. All interested person are invited to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held in Seaview at the Community Building at 8 p.m. Wednesday nights, and at the Peninsula Church center at 8 p.m. on Saturday nights.

Friends and relatives of Henry and Myrtle Smalley are invited to attend the 50th wedding anniversary celebration held in their honor at the Rosburg Hall next Sunday afternoon. August 31, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Kathy Burnett and friend Debbie Cowan of Tulare, Calif., were recent visitors at the Bruce Moore home. They brought the Moore children, Jodi and Joel, home after they spent a month in Pleasant Hill and Tulare with relatives.

Mrs. Sylvia Wiitala and Georg Wiitala attended the Pacific County fair last Thursday.

Visitors at the Rhodney Dunham home last week were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gruber and family if Rialto, Calif.

Virginia Starr took grandsons Steven and David Grilione home to Selma, Calif., and stayed for a few days this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Olson were dinner guests of honor at a 25th wedding anniversary celebration at their home last Sunday. Approximately 100 guests from all over northwest Oregon and southwest Washington enjoyed the day planned by the Johnson’s children and families Sharon Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Robbi Johnson.

Denise, Craig and Dana Sorenson of Vancouver, and Rhonda Sorenson of Chehalis were visiting at their grandparents’ home, the Ed Sorensons, last week. Denise and Dana also spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Koontz, their other grandparents, in Long Beach.

Theodore Swanson and Ida Badger were dinner guests at the Sorenson home last Sunday.

Helen King visited for a few days at the John King Jr. home in Monmouth, Ore., last week.

I think it is time to go back to school!
