The Clatskanie Health & Safety Fair occurs every other year and will be back on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clatskanie Middle/High School (471 Bel Air Dr.). The free event is open to the public and features a range of hands-on activities, vendors, local resources, and safety demonstrations.
This biennial event has taken place for more than 20 years and was started as a collaboration between Clatskanie PUD and Clatskanie Fire Department to promote wellness, safety, family fun, as well as to connect community members with important information and hands-on learning experiences in a welcoming environment. Additional planning partners for the fair include Columbia County United Way and Wauna Credit Union.
According to Clatskanie PUD Chief Operating Officer Sarah Johnson, the fair features a variety of activities and resources for all ages, including free giveaways, children's activities, fire and electrical safety demonstrations, and information on health and safety topics. A free lunch is also provided while supplies last. Special guest "Winnie the Pooh" will make an appearance to greet children and share free books.
"This event is a great opportunity for families to learn more about staying safe and healthy and learning about community resources while also enjoying a fun day together," said Johnson. "We're excited to bring local resources and demonstrations that can make a real difference in everyday life."
Those who will be participating in the Health & Safety Fair include Clatskanie PUD, Clatskanie Fire District, Columbia County Public Health, Columbia County Emergency Management, Wauna Credit Union, Columbia Bank, Turning Point, HOPE, Columbia County United Way, Red Cross, CERT, Columbia Health Services, Clatskanie Park & Rec, Amani Center, and many more.
