The Cathlamet Library has now risen to 1,660 members. Thank you, everyone, for this wonderful achievement.
FREE COOKIES. The library now offers free cookies on two different days each week. We offer cookies every Saturday at the library from 2 to 5 p.m. and, beginning Oct. 2, we will offer free cookies every Thursday at the Westend-Cathlamet Delivery/Pick-up. These chocolate-chip cookies from The Cottage will be available during the first month of Thursday delivery service.
AUTHOR TALK. Our first Autumn Author Talk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. with author Dayle Olson. Dayle is a poet and short-fiction writer living here in Cathlamet. Her pocket magazines feature poetry and drawings inspired by life on the Lower Columbia. Her work appears in The Salal Review, RAIN Magazine, Litmora Magazine, Thin Veil Press, And Other Poems, Timber Ghost Press, and North Coast Squid to name a few. Dayle is a frequent book review contributor to the Columbia River Reader. Author talks are hosted by Cathlamet Public Library and take place at the Pioneer Community Center on 125 Columbia St. Come on out, support our local authors, and enjoy the evening.
NOTARY. The library now offers free notary service for all Cathlamet library card holders. Simply schedule your free service with the library staff. Notary service is available Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30 p.m.
YOUNG STUDENTS. Recently, elementary and high-school students have been coming down to the library. High School English teacher Audrey Petterson is doing great work here in the month of September, having students team up and work together as they explore all the library has to offer. We look forward to assisting any and all teachers and students throughout the school year in using the public library.
WEDNESDAYS. It’s often a special time when parents and young children can come in and enjoy the library before the afternoon gets too busy. Morning hours on Wednesdays are a time to enjoy your library as a community living room to relax, maybe have some light conversation with others, and gather up some books to take home.
GET PASSES. Reminder you can check-out a free Discover Pass or a Columbia River Maritime Museum Pass at the library. Coming soon in October, the Adventure In History Pass will be available, which includes the Flavel House, Heritage Museum, and Oregon Film Museum. These are all located in Astoria. Reserve your free pass at the library. There is a limit of one pass per family.
