Westend-Cathlamet Library delivery pilot program

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the Cathlamet Public Library will launch the first-ever Westend–Cathlamet Library Delivery & Pick-up service. The process is straightforward: place a book, DVD, or Cultural Pass on hold using the library website, then pick up the requested materials on Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. at the Raistakka Fire Hall Station in Rosburg. Returns can be made at the same time and location. Please note that you may also call, email, or make in-person requests; however, the website is recommended.

Library board member Dan Turner has been the driving force behind the project. Since joining the board in late 2024, he has focused on expanding library membership, growing services, and creating new ways to connect the library with residents from across Wahkiakum County.

"Westenders reached out to me, saying they needed and wanted this service," said Turner. "[It's] that simple. I look forward to Westenders using and showing their support for it."

Turner also emphasized the importance of accessibility for all residents, "I don't want to see people limited if they don't have computer access," he said. "In such cases, I suggest coming to the Thursday delivery and telling me what they want. I'm doing everything I can to make this happen and to remove barriers. The library will make this work on our end."

On a recent sunny afternoon, Westend residents, local officials, and Cathlamet Mayor David Olson gathered at Raistakka Hall Station for a group photo with the new sign, hand-painted by Denise Doughty, to show their support and solidarity for the program.
