Cathlamet Public Library News

INAUGURAL DAY. Last Thursday was our inaugural day of the first-ever Westend-Cathlamet Library Delivery service at the Raistakka/Rosburg Fire Station. We had seven patrons arrive and 18 books and DVDs were delivered. Chocolate-chip cookies were provided as a 'Thank you' for each library member. If you live out on the Westend of Wahkiakum County, this is a convenient way for you to get your books, DVDs, and cultural passes delivered to you every Thursday from 2–3 p.m. To order, all you do is go to the library website and log-on, then place your item on hold, and arrive Thursday for pick-up. Please note that all orders must be in by Wednesday at 8 a.m. for the Thursday delivery.

STORY TIME. Wednesdays now through May 13 is Story Time at 10:30 a.m. in the Pioneer Community Center. We'd love to see you there. If you have questions, please call or visit.

SHIBA. Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors volunteers are providing free Medicare assistance on Wednesday, Oct. 15 and 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the Community Room.

BOOK SALE. Library Foundation 501(c)(3) group is holding a book sale Saturday, Oct. 11 from 2-6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the Community Room below the library. Come out and show your support.

THANK YOU. We wish to give a big Thank you to The West Wahkiakum Farmers Market. Originally founded by Jamie VanBuhler and Carillon Nicol, these two wonderful people and the Zimmerman family, Marilyn Johnson, Mark Letham, Janice M. Neecie, Wallie Garvey, Lyle Haataja, Joyce Rangila, and others were always welcoming. We thank you all so much for inviting us to attend throughout the three months, it was wonderful.

BANNED BOOKS. The American Library Association's theme for Banned Books Weeks 2025 is "Censorship is So 1984. Read for your Rights." In honor of Banned Books Week (Oct. 5 – 11), library patrons can check out a previously banned book wrapped in brown paper for the entire month of October. These books will be displayed in their respective sections within the library. Banned Books Week was launched back in 1982 and is an annual reminder that the right to read belongs to all.

Cathlamet Public Library is located at 115 Columbia St. and is open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 2–5 p.m.
