At approximately 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, an unspecified bomb threat was received at Clatskanie Elementary School (CES). According to Superintendent Danielle Hudson, “both CES and CMHS (Clatskanie Middle High School) were immediately cleared to ensure the safety of all students and staff.” Law enforcement was contacted immediately following the threat and “responded promptly to the scene.” According to Hudson, the school communicated with the students’ families through ParentSquare, as well as Facebook “to ensure timely notification.” The sheriff’s department “conducted a full sweep of both buildings and has determined they are safe.” As a result of the threat - and as an added precaution - the doors remained locked Tuesday evening, and all scheduled activities were canceled. Thanking staff, parents, and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, Hudson said, “We recognize that threats of this nature are real and frightening, and we are grateful for the calm, cooperation, and trust shown by families during today’s response. We will also review today’s procedures as part of our ongoing commitment to continuously improving our safety practices.”
