Cindy for Commissioner

As Wahkiakum County prepares for a transition in District 3 leadership, I want to share why I'm not just comfortable with my wife Cindy Langston's application for county commissioner—I'm enthusiastically supporting it.

In our years together, I've watched Cindy tackle every challenge with the same practical determination she brings to our farm. When she commits to something, she sees it through with integrity and tireless effort.

Some might wonder if a spouse's political involvement creates household complications. Cindy doesn't need my permission to serve—she has my full encouragement and partnership. I'm proud to stand beside someone willing to take on difficult responsibilities during challenging times.

What makes Cindy particularly qualified for this role is her combination of deep local roots and extensive experience beyond our county borders. She understands our challenges— the flooding, the dependence on forest resources, the infrastructure needs—because she lives them. But she also brings decades of political and organizational experience from her years working in county and state-level operations building relationships with state legislators who can help advocate for Wahkiakum County's interests.

Our county faces real budget constraints and tough decisions ahead. Cindy isn't running from those realities—she's prepared to address them head-on while actively pursuing grants, partnerships, and creative solutions. As someone who has worked alongside her in construction projects, managed our farm operations with her, and watched her coordinate complex volunteer initiatives, I know she has the problem-solving skills and attention to detail this position demands.

Wahkiakum County government has historically been dominated by male leadership. Fresh perspectives and diverse voices strengthen any governing body, especially in a small county where decisions impact everyone so directly. Cindy's appointment wouldn't just add experience to the board—it would add a voice that represents half our population and their lived experiences.

I encourage Commissioners Cothren and Tischer to give Cindy's application serious consideration. Our county deserves commissioners who combine practical experience with genuine dedication to public service. Cindy embodies both, and I'm proud to support her candidacy.
