Church News

Rev. Kurtii of Salem, Ore. held services at the Apostolic Lutheran church in Rosburg last Sunday. He and Mrs. Kurtii and the congregation were guests at the home of Mrs. Lyla Sotka for a potluck luncheon following services.

Grange News

The new year’s Grays River Grange officers were installed by a team from Skamokawa Grange at a meeting last Tuesday. The team consisted of Sid Parker, Jack and Beverly Moonen, Frank Fraymonville, Mike Parker, and Mary Parker, pianist. New officers are as follows: Ed Sorenson, master; Norman Durrah, overseer; Carlton Appelo, lecturer; Walter Kandoll, steward; Norman Anderson, assistant steward; Corrine Magnuson, chaplain; Myrtle Anderson, treasurer; Lenore Sorenson, secretary; Doug Larson, gatekeeper; Ila Mae Larson, Ceres; Mary Kandoll, Pomona; Elsie Torppa, Flora; Berenice Appelo, lady assistant steward; Bob Larson, executive committee, one year; Eileen Olson, women’s activities chairman.

New officers of the Comet Booster club are Chuck Reese, president; Larry Anderson, vice president; and Frances Reese, secretary-treasurer. More about this organization before their next meeting. They would welcome more participation from Wahkiakum Comet boosters.

Reminder for AFS Friends

There will be a morning meeting on January 29 at the Orange Tree in Naselle, 10:00 a.m. to begin plans for the upcoming World Friendship evening. All interested people are urged to come.

A correction must be made regarding an item last week. It was reported that Mrs. Fred (Nellie) Kirsch of Roseburg, Ore., died in June of 1974. The date of her death was June 17, 1975.

Marlee Stephan was a guest of honor on her 16th birthday, January 17, as the Stephan family dined out in Longview. They were joined by Greg Badger, and Mr. and Mrs. Rod Rorabeck of Portland.

Katie Larson and Eileen Olson spent several days in Reno, Nev. last week. They visited with Athalie Gantert and participated in the fun in downtown Reno.

A large number of friends and relatives helped Elvira Haataia celebrate her birthday, January 6.

Mrs. Dennis Larson was hostess to an evening birthday party for her husband on January 16. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Larson and Doug, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nelson and Lisa, and Mr. and Mrs. Duffy Larson and John.

Guests at the Robert Larson home last week were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Jacobs of Foley, Minn. They are now visiting in Washougal with the Don Crouch family.

Brian Larson is at Fort Knox, Ky. for basic training in the U.S. Army. He will be there for two months.

School News

The Better Schools club is going to present an amateur hour of local talent sometime late in April. Anyone interested in being a part of the show, please contact Donna Klint.

Homer Durrah is confined to Cowlitz General hospital and would appreciate cards or visits from his friends.
