Wahkiakum Youth Mentoring holding open house/Q&A in February

Have you ever considered mentoring a local youth? Would you like to learn how mentoring can benefit your child? Join Wahkiakum Youth Mentoring’s Open House/Q&A on Tuesday, February 3, from 6-7 p.m. at the Hope Center in Cathlamet (320 S. 3rd Street) to discover more about the program and how you can get involved. Wahkiakum Youth Mentoring serves local youth ages 6-18, whether they attend public school or are home-schooled. Mentors commit to just four hours a month for a year, but it’s a relationship that could last a lifetime.

Current mentors spend those hours cooking and baking with their mentees, going fishing and clamming, watching movies, playing games, riding bikes, geocaching, sharing meals, or simply hanging out. The program is always seeking people to host our group activities, which occur once a month and are led by community members with various interests and skills, including arts and crafts, golfing, theater games, learning to play chess, nature journaling, and more. To learn more, call Diana at 360-795-8630 ext. 236. WYM is partially funded by the Wahkiakum Community Network Coalition, Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services, and the Washington Health Care Authority’s Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative grant.
