Workforce Southwest Washington (WSW), the region’s local workforce development board, is proud to partner with Wahkiakum School District, Naselle-Grays River Valley School District, Next Success, and Wahkiakum Health and Human Services to host a career fair serving students from two of the area’s most rural school communities. The event will take place at Wahkiakum High School (500 S Third St.) on Thursday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to noon.
For years, WSW has worked alongside local educators, employers, and community organizations to strengthen connections between students and in-demand career pathways. This event is designed to bring regional industry awareness directly to Wahkiakum and Naselle students, helping them explore career opportunities that lead to quality jobs in high-demand sectors.
The career fair will feature employers and industry representatives from across the region, offering students the opportunity to learn about local industries, ask questions, and begin envisioning their future career paths. From healthcare and public service to manufacturing, skilled trades, and technical careers, the event highlights opportunities that allow students to build meaningful careers close to home.
“Students in our rural communities deserve the same access to career exploration and industry connections as those in more urban areas,” said WSW Sr. Project Manager for Manufacturing Alyssa Joyner. “By bringing employers directly to Wahkiakum and Naselle, we’re helping students see what’s possible and understand the pathways that can lead them there.”
This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to supporting youth, strengthening local talent pipelines and ensuring that regional employers have access to a future workforce prepared for the opportunities ahead.
