Visitor from Norway Loves Area and People

Mrs. Gudrun Enge of Vik, Helgeland, Norway, arrived at Portland International airport on February 16. Here she visited relatives, made new friends and found a love for this area and its people probably brought on by the friendly atmosphere and peaceful surroundings reminding her of her home in Norway.

Mrs Enge had been visiting for five and a half months in El Cerrito, Calif., with her oldest daughter, Mrs. Ray Nelson and during the first week of January was visited by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Danielsen who in turn invited her to visit Puget Island.

She took them up on their offer and arrived in mid-February for another leg of her journey and stay in the U.S.

Mrs. Enge was married to Tvyve Enge who is a cousin to Mrs. Oscar Bergseng, Dan Danielson, Elmer Danielsen, and Sigurd Blix.

During her stay on Puget Island Gudrun Enge was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ingerman Liasjo and Mrs. Ostri Tomsali, all of whom knew each other in Norway in their younger years. She was entertained by them with gatherings of family and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Danielson and Mr. and Mrs. Liasjo escorted Mrs. Enge to Raymond to visit with Danielson’s brother, Ben Danielson, who resides in a convalescent home there.

The time to return to her homeland came on February 23 and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Danielsen saw her off at Seattle-Tacoma airport on the SAS airline leaving for Denmark.

Uncle Visits

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Danielsen met her uncle George Bugge of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, at Sea-Tac airport on February 24. He is making an extended visit in the area. Bugge is a first cousin of the Vik’s and Rae Fritzie of Puget Island. He also has a sister, Mrs. Carl Brateng, in Ilwaco.
