One of Washington’s largest remaining newspaper presses is closing this month, just three years after it opened. Sound Publishing is closing its production center in Lakewood, Pierce County, which prints more than 30 local newspapers across Washington and several in Alaska that are delivered by mail. The secretive company declined to confirm the closure but employees were informed of it over the last week. Some were told that the facility was losing $1 million a year.
