    Wahkiakum Mule wrestlers went to the regional tournament on Saturday prepared to compete against tough opponents and their efforts paid off. The wrestlers had nine pins throughout the day and only one loss; they all wrestled very well. The team will go into the Mat Classic tournament this coming weekend with three West side #1 seeds and one #3 seed. Luke Stacey, the 126-lb. weight class champion, had a tech fall 19-3 and a pin for the day. He has a 28-9 win-loss record so far this season.     The five man Mule wrestling team braved the weather on Saturday to compete at the District 4 Sub-Regional tournament at Ocosta. Mules ripped through their weight classes and walked away with four district champions and one 2nd place. All five will move on to participate in the Regional tournament. The boys received enough points to bring home the 3rd place trophy.     The Wahkiakum Mule wrestlers attended the RA Long Lumberjack tournament on Saturday. The wrestlers came to the meet prepared for tough competition and it paid off, with three of the four wrestlers making it to the finals round. At 126 lbs., Luke Stacey received second place. Luke’s first opponent was from Centralia and Luke won the match 14-2. The second match was Woodland and a win with a technical fall.     Mule Wrestlers had three top placers when they attended the 16 man bracket Rubber Chicken tournament in Kalama on Saturday. Alex Johnson won first place at 138 lbs. and brought home a rubber chicken this week with three wins over Montesano, Castle Rock and Hoquiam. He had a bye for match one.     Mule Wrestlers made the trip to Hoquiam this Saturday to participate in the Grizzlies tournament. It was a large 15 team tournament with 2B through 3A schools attending. Once again all four Mules that wrestled placed in the top three. Luke Stacey at 132-lbs. placed 3rd. Luke’s first two matches were wins by pins against Cashmere and Mark Morris.     Mule Wrestlers attended the Castle Rock tournament January 4; this was by far the toughest tournament yet. There were 16 teams with full 16 man brackets. At 132-lbs., Luke Stacey won 5th place. Luke’s first opponent was from Royal and he won the match by pin in round two. The second match was a Rainier wrestler and was a win with a pin in the third round.     The Wahkiakum Mule Wrestlers headed over to the Eastside on Saturday to attend the Pomeroy tournament. The Mules placed 3rd in overall team points out of 14 teams from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Wahkiakum had five boys wrestle and all placed in the top three of their weight classes.     The Wahkiaum Mule wrestlers competed at the Warrenton Invitational tournament last Saturday. Eight teams were present from Washington and Oregon. The Mules had only six wrestlers competing that day and five of those placed in the top three. Having half the wrestlers than the other teams, the Mules still placed 4th in overall team points.     The Wahkiakum Mule Wrestlers attended Three Rivers Classic tournament at Mark Morris on Saturday, their first of the season.
