    The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce has released the results have its Sixth Annual Festival of Trees. Design Winner: - The entry with the most votes overall, was Sharon's Pizza, for the Pizza Tree. Voter Drawing winner was Becky Avalon, who was pleasantly surprised with Warm Vanilla Sugar scented gifts.     The Wahkiakum Mule boys basketball team split two Central League basketball games this week. The Mules got off to a slow start December 15 at Winlock, trailing 11-6 after one, but bounced back in the second quarter to take a two point lead into the half and finished off the Cardinals with a 19 point fourth quarter. The 47-36 victory put the Mules at 3-2 for the season and snapped the team’s two game losing streak.     The Wahkiakum Lady Mule basketball team stumbled against two Central League opponents in action this past week. On December 16, the visiting Adna Pirates threw a defensive blanket over the Mules and won 67-28. The Pirates took a 26-7 first quarter lead.     Cathlamet resident, Francis V. “Frank” Huerd, 68, passed away December 20, 2010 at Community Hospice. He was born January 30, 1942 in Yakima, to Ray and Esther (Voss) Huerd. On January 14, 1961 he married Evelyn Morris in Cathlamet; she survives him at home. Frank and Evelyn resided in Longview, Vancouver and Cathlamet over their 49 years of marriage.     Wahkiakum PUD commissioners adopted a revised policy for security deposits at their board meeting December 21. New residential consumers who provide a one year history of satisfactory utility payments would not be charged a deposit.
