To The Eagle: After reading last week’s Eagle about lack of affordable housing, I would like to give you some insight as to costs for the landlord(s). I have had rental houses for over 25 years in Cathlamet. The article by Ms. Zimmerman does not give information on how much it costs to provide basic housing for those who want to rent at $400 per month, or possibly to be even more affordable for those who are in need. WET BEGINNING--As this week began, it was a bit on the damp and cool side, which was a far cry from the weather we ended with last week, as it was dry and up in the upper 80s. PRETTY NICE--Last weekend was Mother's Day weekend and while Sunday wasn't as warm and toasty as Saturday, it was still pretty nice later on in the day as the winds blew the cloudiness away and we saw the sun again in the afternoon. The Julia Butler Hansen Heritage Center, 35 Butler St., Cathlamet, will be open for tours on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Julia Butler Hansen House is the oldest house in Cathlamet and Wahkiakum County dating from the 1860’s. It was the home of the late congresswoman, Julia Butler Hansen and her family for over 100 years.
