  • County installing box for old prescription drugs

    The Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office this week is installing a box in the courthouse to collect old, unused prescription drugs. County staff will also hold a public event to collect old drugs on April 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the lobby of the courthouse in Cathlamet. The installation of the box will allow people to dispose of unused prescriptions without waiting for annual events which the county has held.     Ronald Leroy Whittle, 47, of Seattle, died April 7, 2017. He was born June 12, 1969 in Spokane to Wesley and Margaret (Clark) Whittle. He came to Cathlamet at age nine and graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1987. He worked in the timber industry, enjoyed bowling and was very proud of his native heritage, being a member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.
