    Leroy E. “Roy” Beard 85, of Cathlamet died on February 26, 2015 at home. He was born in Sandy, Ore., on June 24, 1929. He grew up in the Elochoman Valley where he came to live as a child. He joined the Navy during WWII and when he returned he married Lena “Sunnie” Miller in 1949. They lived in Cathlamet and Gold Beac,h Ore., before coming back to Cathlamet to stay. Roy worked in sawmills prior to owning his own shake mill in the Elochoman Valley. In 2001 he retired and he and Sunnie enjoyed traveling and selling the beautiful Indian Artwork...
