The Naselle Finnish American Folk Festival 2018 is calling for artwork for display reflecting the lives and experiences of families here and in this whole bountiful region. I escaped the heat and traffic of good old California, with my niece and great niece last Sunday and arrived to cooler and damper surroundings that evening. It started raining off and on in Eugene but stopped as we arrived in Grays River. It is so good to be home. Naselle High School will hold its graduation ceremony this Saturday, 4 p.m. Samanta "Mayrel" Franco Monroy is the valedictorian for Naselle's Class of 2018. It's a praiseworthy achievement. Another really busy week. Last Friday we celebrated my oldest son’s 50th birthday with lots of surprises for him. His two younger brothers met him on the golf course and he was totally dumbfounded. Last week, Wahkiakum and Naselle athletes traveled to Cheney, Washington to compete in the 2B and 1B State Track and Field competition. Well, I made it to California last Thursday in 11 hours, visited a few minutes with family, and slept a few hours.
