COLD ENOUGH?--Holy cow, has it been cold or what?! Couple the low temperatures with winds and some snow and those temperatures really took a nose dive. Out here in West Valley, I had a reading of six degrees one early, early morning, although my thermometer on the south side of the house said, eleven degrees, but either way you look at it, it was just bitter cold out there. By the time you read this, we should be back to rain if the forecasters are correct and I hate to say it, but rain would actually look good right now, even though this...
Yes, it was cold. Some of our pipes froze, but with a little patience and time, we eventually have water again. Just like camping for a day or two. We did make sure that the animals had fresh water and a warm place to stay, and added a feeder and a heat lamp to the inside of the chicken pen, though they even said “it’s too cold to lay you any eggs.” Now we are back to a little bit of normal behavior. Naselle news With the winter weather hitting us just a bit early, the Naselle-Grays River Valley students have already experienced some snow...

Story and photos by Diana Zimmerman Travis Wegdahl, a senior at Wahkiakum High School, noticed something was missing while looking through old annuals with his mother, Stacey (Doumit) Wegdahl, Class of ’89. A class sign, once an object of pride, no longer graced the exterior wall above the entrance to the school. “It was a tradition," Wegdahl said. “The yearbooks show the whole class being involved in creating their sign. My mom worked on the one for her class.” Resurrecting a tradition and quie...

With its addition to the dough, a yellow hue is produced. Swedish tradition and the serving of the Saffron Buns represents light during the long, dark winter days. NIPPY OUT THERE--This past week has been mighty cold with temperatures dropping in the low 20's in West Valley, so while the clear blue skies are welcome and the sun is shining brightly, it's not exactly warm and toasty when you step outside, brrr! The frost has been so thick at times that you could swear it snowed and even after a week of freezing temperatures and dry days, we've still got plenty of moisture in the air to cause us to have thick, heavy frost every morning. Needless to say, it's been a trying time for some of us as we...
