  • Spring brings the hummingbirds

    Mar 25, 2010

Is it my imagination, or are there lots more crows flying around this year? They seem to take great pleasure in bothering our dogs while they nap in the sunshine. Kay Chamberlain, Wah. Co. Eagle|Mar 18, 2010

DECENT BEGINNING--As this week began Sunday was mostly dry after some night rain and then again late at night, so by Monday, the warmer temperatures and sunshine were especially nice. While the wind picked up and the clouds rolled in, it was still dry and yes, still light at 7 p.m. Some showers are supposed to descend upon us between my writing this and you getting it, but then we are supposed to get drier again, with temperatures up near 70. • Wear green on Wednesday

    Kay Chamberlain, Wah. Co. Eagle|Mar 11, 2010

GREAT START--As this work week begins, it's absolutely gorgeous after a frozen morning in West Valley. But wait! It was very nice, right up until the wind began to blow and blow hard, and the black clouds rolled in and then it was hailing and snowing and raining and well, it just got nasty! It looks like we could have some cold temperatures and more chances of some freaky weather this week, so I guess winter isn't over just yet. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from March 11-17 are Paul Ehrensberger, Kelly Zink, Larry Bonds, Gretchen M...

    Trudy Fredrickson, Wah. Co. Eagle|Mar 11, 2010

It’s certainly hard to figure out what Mother Nature has been trying to tell us for the last week or so. One day we have shirtsleeve weather and the next is snow flurries, lightning, thunder, hail, wind and long underwear. It looks like a not so nice forecast for the next few days. • Sound of train was really just the wind

    Mar 4, 2010

DECENT BEGINNING--As this week begins, the weather was pretty decent, some dry spells and sunshine; a nice relief from some nasty, wet days last week, except for Thursday morning, which was gorgeous. By that evening, the rains came and so did the wind. Wow, it sounded like a freight train coming down the valley about 11:05 p.m., but luckily each burst of wind didn't last long and by midnight, it was just breezy. Most people I talked to missed the whole thing as they were all sound asleep, but this night owl was one of those who thought we were...

  • March has many events scheduled

    Kay Chamberlain, Wah. Co. Eagle|Feb 25, 2010

GORGEOUS--We might be back to some rain now but wasn't last week gorgeous? West Valley saw freezing temps several nights in a row, but those sunny days sure made up for the cold! The only down side to the wonderful weather was my back and knees and everything else, were aching in rebellion against the yard work I was trying to get done! Whew! Always quite a job but I'm glad to get ahead of some of the weeds for a change. I hope you've been able to enjoy some of this sunshine prior to the rains coming back, as it's really a "pick-me-upper."...

  • Garage sale and bake sale this weekend

    Trudy Fredrickson, Wah. Co. Eagle|Feb 25, 2010

Can you believe the past couple of weeks and the magnificent weather we have had? Looks like that is about to come to an end this week as they are calling for rain once again. I guess we should be grateful for the mild weather we have had this winter, though. We have had the opportunity to see some interesting wildlife antics here on our property. Just the other day, I watched a heron try to land in our birch tree on a branch about 40 feet up. He made a big circle and attempted to land, only to fall all the way to the ground. He wasn’t hurt, b...

  • Quilters exhibit at Redmen Hall

    Kay Chamberlain, Wah. Co. Eagle|Feb 18, 2010

NOT TOO BAD--We began this week with mostly sunshine and just a couple sprinkles on Valentine's Day and then on Monday, we had a mostly sunny day after some morning fog, before the clouds came in and got us pretty wet, but all in all, it wasn't too bad. I would say the Valentine/Presidents' weekend was pretty mild compared to other areas. I heard from my brother, Marshall Pedersen, in New Jersey and they have been doing a lot of that "shoveling routine." We better consider ourselves lucky as the East Coast is still getting battered by those...

  • Lots of events on Valentine weekend

    Kay Chamberlain, Wah. Co. Eagle|Feb 11, 2010

NOT TOO BAD--Monday wasn't too bad; some fog in the morning and lots of sunshine, which was nice after several days of partially wet and cold. Looks like the dry streak won't last long as by the time you read this, we'll be ready for more raindrops and maybe even some wind. At least we aren't "shoveling" our weather, as those folks back East got hammered with a couple of feet of snow, so we're looking good. The only down side is that we might be singing the blues when our lack of snow pack brings us a drought this summer. Let's hope that...
