It is time to start preparing for the Wahkiakum County sponsored Great While Tail Run. This will be the 23rd annual run, and is scheduled for May 19, on the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge.
The run committee is accepting entries for the tee shirt logo from youth in kindergarten through grade 12. Requirements for the logo are to have Columbia White Tail Deer theme with an original design in a simple format that will transfer to a shirt well. A dark design on white paper is preferred.
The first prize is a shirt with the winning logo and $10; second and third prizes are art supplies. Entries must have the participant's name, grade and phone number on the back and be turned into the WSU extension office in Cathlamet, or school office by February 20.
The Great White Tail Run is a family event with a 2-mile fun walk/run, 5k or 10k distances. The funds raised are used for the Wahkiakum County 4-H program. Run brochures will be available at the end of February.
