Great White Tail Run logo contest winners announced

The Wahkiakum County 4-H Council is gearing up for its 23rd annual Great White Tail Run on May 19.

The first step is to find a design for the run tee shirt. Over a 100 entries were received for this year's contest. First place was awarded to Ethan Cothren of Cathlamet. He wins $10 and a tee shirt with his winning design on it. Second place went to Samantha Boyce of Cathlamet and third to Charly Childers of Cathlamet, who both receive art supplies. Entrants receiving honorable mentions are: Sidney Ashe, of Cathlamet, Conner Emlen Petterson of Skamokawa, Lillian Bartholomew of Cathlamet, Chase Grasseth of Longview, and Tori Wegdahl of Elochoman Valley. All the entries will be posted during the run at Skamokawa Vista Park in the registration area.

The Great White Tail run is a family event held on the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge. The run has distances of 2 miles, 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers. Run brochures are available in area sports shops and at the WSU Extension offices in Cathlamet and Kelso.
