Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
It’s been a cold and wet week but that hasn’t stopped us pushing forward with the fair clean up. This week we saw some dramatic changes as the remains of the Commercial Building and Horse Arena were cleared away.
Not only has the Horse Barn roof been replaced but also the guttering on the T Building and 4-H Barn. The clean up crew has been working hard, cleaning, painting and organizing the fairgrounds from top to bottom.
They even discovered some lost treasures from previous fairs including pictures and newspapers from over the last decade. All items which have been saved will be on display at this year’s fair.
Don’t forget to buy your tickets for the annual Valentine Diamond Dinner happening this Saturday, at 6pm at the Grange Hall in Skamokawa. Dinner includes a delicious bacon wrapped filet-mignon, steaming baked potato, crisp green salad, and decadent dessert.
This year we have some amazing raffle prizes including a gorgeous diamond necklace; two beautiful hand crafted necklace and earring sets designed by the talented Becky Ledtke, three free haircuts from the Cathlamet Barber Shop, and scrumptious gift baskets from both Twin Gables and C&H Smoked Fish. Each diner receives one raffle ticket with their meal with additional tickets a steal at $1. All proceeds benefit the fair with 10 percent donated to the WSU extension.
After dinner sit back and enjoy the very talented Sunrise Fletcher as he and his musical friends serenade you and your loved one. Seating is limited to 150 so grab your tickets today.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Bank of the Pacific, Lower Columbia Realty, Trillium Books or at the door. You can also call the fair office at 795-3480 or purchase your tickets through fair board members Martha Backman, Blair Brady, Gregg Carlson, Bill Coons, Patty Dursteler or Susan Patterson.
Hope to see you on Saturday!
