Big Top goes up Sunday

, 2009

This Sunday, the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce is bringing the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, America’s Favorite Big Top Circus, to Cathlamet with two scheduled performances at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Wahkiakum High School's softball field.

Between 9:30 and 10 a.m., visitors can watch the raising of the Big Top, then stay for the free tour. This presentation offers a unique face-to-face opportunity for families, schools, and interested community members to meet and learn all about the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus family and includes a walking tour of the circus grounds with interesting facts about the performers, the history of the show and the different species of animals.

At 1 p.m., the midway and box office opens, along with concessions and more. Then stay and watch the performers bring the magic of the circus to life in the 90-minute shows starting at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. This year’s lineup includes an All-Star group of performers and entertainers sure to amaze and delight.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at The Bank of the Pacific in Cathlamet and in Naselle, the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center at 102 Main Street in Cathlamet, and at the Two Islands Farmer's Market on Friday. Prices for advance tickets are $6 for children ages two to 12, children under two are always free, and $8 for adults. On show day tickets will be $1.50 more.
