Quilters celebrate 10th anniversary with exhibition

September 9, 2010

On September 11, an exhibit of quilts by the River City Strippers - a Wahkiakum County based quilters group - will open at Redmen Hall. This will be a celebration of their 10th anniversary as a group, having started with 11 members in February 2000, and now grown to just over 40 quilters. They meet weekly in Cathlamet and have become well known for the Comfort Quilts they make and donate to seriously ill children and adults in local hospitals. They will be showing over 80 pieces of their work from quilts to bags, clothing and smaller items. Many of these items will be for sale, so come, enjoy their work, and perhaps, take home one of their beautiful pieces.

The exhibit will run from September 11 until October 24 with a reception for the quilters on the opening day from 1 to 3 p.m. Desserts, coffee and juice will be served. Many of the quilters will be there to share their techniques and ideas about quilting, and about their quilt group that meets at a local church every week.

Redmen Hall's hours are Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Their telephone number is 360-795-3007.
