September 16, 2010



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 7--7:12 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man with an arrow in his pelvis. 8:08 a.m. An officer arrested a driver after making a vehicle stop on Columbia Street. 3:27 p.m. An East Valley resident reported a man was trespassing; a deputy was advised. 11:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale woman who had fallen and couldn't get up.

September 8--2:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley woman with possible heart trouble. 9:21 a.m. A Middle Valley resident said renters had abandoned their house and left a pit bull tied up there; the humane society was notified. 11:58 a.m. An East Valley resident reported a burglary. 6:13 p.m. A caller reported that salmon poachers had abandoned a dog which was tied up along Upper Naselle River Road; the state Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 9:02 p.m. Callers said someone was shooting a sling shot at a building in Cathlamet.

September 9--6:50 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet woman who was having a seizure. 9:41 a.m. A caller reported possible illegal drug activity in Rosburg; an officer investigated. 3:55 p.m. A caller reported a man had threatened his ex-wife; an officer investigated. 5:03 p.m. An officer investigated a report of an assault at a Rosedale residence.

September 10--8:34 a.m. A caller reported a man had left to go hunting on Sept. 6 and his pickup was still parked along East Valley Road; an officer talked to two people who said the man was still hunting. 9:14 a.m. A caller reported an assault had occurred at a Rosedale residence; an officer investigated. 12:53 p.m. A Grays River resident reported being harassed; an officer investigated. 5:09 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone was still shooting projectiles at people and buildings in Cathlamet. 7:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet man with chest pain. 7:15 p.m. A Puget Island resident said a juvenile had run away; an officer made contact and located the child. 7:57 p.m. A caller reported a hunter was stuck in the woods along the 710 line and didn't know how to get out; forest security was dispatched. 8:54 p.m. A caller reported possible illegal drug activity in Cathlamet.

September 11--1:34 p.m. A caller said someone was trespassing on the Skyline Golf Course; an officer made contact. 1:41 p.m. A caller said someone is shooting geese on Coffeepot Island. 3:45 p.m. A caller reported a pickup pulling a trailer had run in a ditch along SR 4 at Milepost 42.5; a tow truck was summoned; there were no injuries. 6:29 p.m. A caller said hunters had set up a camp in private property at the end of the Elochoman Valley Road and were trespassing; they were warned to leave. 7:55 p.m. The Cathlamet grade school reported a student had discharged a fire extinguisher on other people; an officer investigated.

September 12--12:28 a.m. A caller reported a strange looking man might be casing houses in Skamokawa; an officer investigated and found that the man was camping at Vista Park and had gotten lost on a walk. 8:49 a.m. A caller said someone had run into mail boxes along SR 4 east of Cathlamet. 12:13 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle on SR 4 at Risk Road and arrested a person on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while license suspended. 12:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was very upset. 12:52 p.m. A caller reported finding drug paraphernalia at a Puget Island rental house. 1:49 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Rosburg woman who was unconscious. 11:51 p.m. A motorist reported seeing a man trying to flag down a vehicle on SR 4 at the Elochoman River Bridge; an officer and ambulance responded and found that a vehicle had run off the road into the river; the driver had minor injuries and refused transport.
