Sheriff's Report - April 7, 2011

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 28--8:54 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported he was going to shoot his neighbor's dog the next time it was in his barn bothering cattle and he had notified the neighbor of that. 12:52 p.m. Pierce County officers reported that a vehicle stolen there was at a Puget Island residence; an officer investigated. 1:17 p.m. A caller reported seeing malnourished cattle at an East Valley farm; the Humane Society investigated. 2:11 p.m. A man reported a pickup and fish boat on a trailer were parked the wrong way on Main Street; a deputy made contact.

March 29--4:15 p.m. A caller reported people who ran a puppy mill were moving into an Elochoman Valley residence. 11:26 a.m. A motorist reported that a slide had blocked both lanes of the Altoona-Pillar Rock Road; the county road department was notified.

March 30--2:43 p.m. A caller reported being assaulted but not wanting to press charges; an officer investigated. 3:36 p.m. A woman reported a girl had been assaulted at school in Cathlamet during the day; a deputy investigated. 6:44 p.m. A motorist reported a black Honda had run off South Welcome Slough Road on Puget Island and was driving through trees; officers responded; no one was injured; the driver was taken into custody.

March 31--8:36 p.m. A motorist reported a car had run off SR 409 on Puget Island and was partially submerged in the ditch; no one was injured. 9:49 p.m. A caller reported a young man was very depressed and needed to be checked; an officer was advised.

April 1--7:31 p.m. A caller reported a person with several outstanding warrants of arrest on file had just left Longview for Cathlamet; a deputy was unable to locate the person. 8:30 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported an ongoing problem with a noisy neighbor and requested information about the town noise ordinance. 10:04 p.m. A boater moored at the Elochoman Slough Marina reported people on another boat were having a very loud and disturbing alcohol party; an officer made contact.

April 2--9:24 a.m. A caller reported someone had vandalized a sign in Rosedale; a deputy investigated. 8:16 p.m. A caller reported someone was burning garbage in a barrel at the marina; a deputy responded.

April 3--12:54 a.m. A caller reported juveniles were having an alcohol party at a Puget Island residence; an officer responded. 5:51 a.m. A caller reported someone had knocked down three mailboxes along North Welcome Slough Road and part of the vehicle was on the scene; a deputy investigated. 11:52 a.m. A caller reported finding a hidden gun that might have been stolen. 2:54 p.m. A caller said people had been shooting guns for two hours at an East Sunny Sands residence; officers were advised. 4:37 p.m. A marina patron reported finding that someone had drilled a hole in a gas can. 4:43 p.m. A person reported being offered a large amount of ammunition at a very low price; a deputy investigated and learned the ammunition had been reloaded. 4:47 p.m. A caller reported someone was digging in fossil beds beside SR 4 near Grays River; no one was there when an officer arrived.
