Candidates finish filing for fall elections

 


Filing for positions on the 2011 election ballots wrapped up last Friday with the closure of a special filing period for four unclaimed positions.

No candidates came forward for the positions. Typically, members of boards find someone to appoint to fill vacancies.

There will be no primary election in August, and there will be only one contested position on the November ballot.

Lori Scott is challenging incumbent Carlton Appelo for the seat on the Port District 2 board of commissioners that he's held since the district was formed.

Other filings that occurred during the previous week included:

Cathlamet Town Council: Position 1, Steven McNicholas incumbent; Position 2, Wally Wright incumbent, and Position 3, Angie Pugh.

Naselle/Grays River Valley School District: Position 1, Robert Torppa; Position 3, Hollis Fletcher; Position 5, Edmund Darcher.

Wahkiakum School District: Position 2, Tina Schubert incumbent.

Port District 1: Position 2, Larry Bonds incumbent.

Cemetery District 1, Position 1 Geoffrey Morse.

Fire District 1, Position 2, Jim Jespersen incumbent.

Fire District 3, Position 2, Dennis Nagasawa incumbent.

Fire District 4, Position 2, Jim McCoy.

The four positions that didn't have candidates:

--Wahkiakum School District board of directors, Position 1, Tony Boyce incumbent.

--Cemetery District 2, Position 2, Kent Martin incumbent.

--Skamokawa Water & Sewer Commission, Position 1, vacant.

--Fire District 2, Position 2, John Lindsey incumbent.
