Sheriff's Report - August 18, 2011

 

August 18, 2011



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 8--12:30 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported finding a cougar track in the back yard.

August 9--1:42 p.m. A Greenwood Road resident reported a theft. 5:54 p.m. A motorist complained that a mailbox was too close to the edge of West Birnie Slough Road and had caught a vehicle's mirror; an officer met with the home owner and found the box was 22 inches off the pavement.

August 10--8:33 a.m. An Elochoman Valley woman reported seeing a large cougar in her yard; the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) was notified. 2:51 p.m. A caller repored two county vehicles had collided on Steamboat Slough Road; no onte was injured. 2:57 p.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported people were trespassing. 3:55 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had pointed a gun off a deck; an officer investigated. 6:34 p.m. A caller reported a silver car had been parked by a house for several days; when contacted the driver said he worked for a fiber optic company; a different car returned with what appeared to be the same license plate number. 8:04 p.m. An officer took a juvenile into custody at a Puget Island residence.

August 11--1:04 a.m. An officer assisted a state patrolman in arresting a drunken driver. 6:50 a.m. A Grays River resident reported someone was driving a vehicle with a stolen plate on it and it was parked near Grays River; a deputy was notified. 8:56 a.m. A woman reported a case of custodial interference; an officer investigated and found that people were adhering to a court order. 11:43 a.m. A caller reported a case of child molestation; an officer investiaged. 9:27 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person in an old pickup was driving up Hull Creek Road without lights on.

August 12--7:44 a.m. A Skamokawa resident, who recently lost three gas cans to theft, reported someone in a white van with an Oregon plate was hanging around and sped off when spotted; offiers were advised. 12:12 p.m. A man reported finding a large dump site up the 3000 Line; an officer investigated. 10:03 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported neighbors had a fire in their yard and were being very loud.

August 13--1:45 p.m. A person reported being assaulted by a sister; an officer investigated. 11:58 p.m. A Westend resident reported a suspicious vehicle pulling a U-Haul trailer was in the area and left when the caller let his dog out; an officer stopped the vehicle and arrested a person on an outstanding warrant.

August 14--1:57 a.m. A caller reported a group of juveniles was hanging around recycling bins at the middle school in Cathlamet; an officer investigated. 4:47 a.m. Campers at Skamokawa Vista Park reported hearing screaming at a campsite; campers reported people had been stealing food and throwing eggs; officers impounded a pickup. 8:59 p.m. A Hillcrest Drive resident reported a person had been bitten by a dog; an officer made contact. 10:34 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had backed into a fence and caused damage; an officer made contact.
