Concert to feature classical piano music

A concert entitled Drawn to the Light, featuring the piano music of Edvard Grieg, hymns new and old, and the grand Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor by J.S. Bach, will be presented at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. on October 30.

A free will offering will benefit the Wahkiakum High School music program as well as the church's music program. The featured artists will be Sylvia Berg Oines a pianist/organist from Seattle and Eva-Mari Vik, clarinetist from Wahkiakum High School.

Our Saviour's Lutheran Church is located at 549 SR 409 on Puget Island.

Last call for Neewollah Daze

Last call for all goblins, vampires, super heroes, princesses, rock stars, etc. to get dressed up and head to Bank of the Pacific for the annual Neewollah Daze celebration with judging to begin at 4 p.m. on October 31.

Several categories will be judged, from babies to adults and everyone will receive a prize bag filled with lots of fun items, cookies and punch.

After the costume contest, participants can take a walk through downtown Cathlamet and visit merchants with orange and black balloons outside their business for a special treat and look at the posters created by JA Wendt elementary children. First place winners will be displayed in The Wahkiakum County Eagle windows. The event is sponsored by the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce.

Fitness classes set to start November 1

Starting November 1, Mary Moonen will teach a Zumba class. The classes will be Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. above the middle school gym and Tuesday and Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Elementary multi-purpose room.

The classes are free and run about 60 mins. Moonen will run a body shaping class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. also above the middle school gym. This class is also free, working with light free weights, abs ,arms and legs.
