Sheriff's Report - December 1, 2011

 

December 1, 2011



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 21--12:49 a.m. A state patrolman and deputy sheriff arrested a driver on SR 409 near Cathlamet; the driver was charged with driving without a license and was taken to Longview for a blood test. 9:22 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman who had fallen.

November 22--1:31 a.m. A Longtain Road resident reported a power outage after a transformer explosion; Wahkiakum PUD was notified. 4:13 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported power was out along SR 4; the PUD was notified. 9:25 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a boat house was drifting in Welcome Slough; the building inspector was notified. 10:41 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a person having difficulty breathing. 11:02 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had broken into a shed and taken tools. 12:30 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a man was violating a restraining order; an officer made contact. 4:15 p.m. A caller reported a goat had been tethered in the same place, apparently without food or water, for several months. 8:50 p.m. A Miller Point Road resident reported a power outage; the PUD responded and found a tree had fallen across the road and power lines.

November 23--1:53 a.m. Residents of Eden Valley, Kattarri Heights, and Oneida reported power outages from wind. 7:17 a.m. Officers reported high water was covering Deep River, Salmon Creek, Loop and Altoona-Pillar Rock roads; the high water receded with the tide. 9:50 a.m. A Grays River resident reported that someone claiming to be from "Rainbow Computers" had phoned and asked to have remote access to the homeowner's computer. 1:37 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a barge was slowly sinking on the eastern end of Birnie Slough.

November 24--9:31 p.m. Little Island residents came home from a Thanksgiving Day trip to find that someone had smashed a window, entered their house and ransacked it.

November 25--2:26 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman with high blood pressure. 9:03 a.m. A Middle Valley resident reported seeing a pickup loaded with garbage headed into the woods; it was gone when an officer arrived. 9:24 a.m. A Covered Bridge Road resident reported someone had maimed a horse and tangled a dog's rope around its back legs; the caller didn't know if the incidents were accidents or not. 2:21 p.m. A tow truck operator reported he would be repossessing a car at a Puget Island residence. 8:55 p.m. A Bradley Mountain resident reported a couple were fighting and the man was armed with a shotgun; officers responded and found a woman with a burn on her knee; the male had a knife wound on his arm and was armed and threatening suicide but was secured after talking to a deputy; Cathlamet ambulance crews were called to the scene to give aid to both parties.

November 26--10:20 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man injured in a fall. 5:02 p.m. A motorist reported water from a plugged culvert was flooding SR 4 near Grays River. 10:38 p.m. A Cathlamet resident said it appears that a young man is living in Erickson Park and causing disturbances early in the morning; no one was around when an officer arrived.

November 27--2:46 a.m. Puget Island and Cathlamet fire fighters responded to a vehicle fire on SR 409 at the approach to the Puget Island bridge. 8:55 a.m. Corrections officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a suicide attempt by a jail inmate. 6:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with chest and abdominal pain.
