Mickey Paulsen

 


Jesus beat the Life Flight on a sunny Monday morning when Mickey Paulsen, 75, of Cathlamet, made his departure from us.

Mickey was born on August 26,1936 in Chehalis to Niels and Mary (Vogel) Paulsen. Mickey attended school in Chehalis. On April 14, 1960 Mickey married Jeanne Bowen, the love of his life and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage, the last 14 were the best! He owned his own log trucks since 1961 until his retirement in 1998. He hauled for George Oller, Jerry DeBriae, Bobby Olsen, and Wirkkala. He and Jeanne became partners with son Mike, a partnership that lasted for 10 years until Mike went independent. Mickey was a lifelong member of Washington Log Truckers Conference, serving as Lower Columbia Chairman for many years and was State president twice. He was a member of Oak Point Community Church since 1998 serving as Chairman for 11 years, enjoying his service and leadership; he was respected and loved there.

Mickey enjoyed gardening, work and tending his trucks. He and Jeanne enjoyed winters in Arizona since 1996. Mickey's family and friends will remember his being 7 foot tall and bullet proof, a loving Daddy and Papa, his son Mike's partner and best friend. He was so proud of his children. Mickey loved his pets Abby and Catt.

In addition to Jeanne he is survived by a son Mike and Penny Paulsen of Cathlamet; daughters Laureen Paulsen and Michelle Catt of Longview, and Judy and J.D. Gaffney of Issaquah; brother Bill Paulsen of Centralia; grandchildren Nichole and Josh Most, Liv, Tru, Michael Paulsen, Jr., Chelsea Paulsen, Ryden, Hayden and Keigan Romines, Casey, Kelly and Mea Curry, and Hannah and Reilly Gaffney. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1962, granddaughter Clare Gaffney and Grandson Blue Weston.

A Celebration of Mickey's life will be held on Saturday July 28 at the Paulsen Campground, 1370 Elochoman Valley Rd. Cathlamet at 1 p.m.

Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
