Sheriff's Report - September 20, 2012

 

September 20, 2012



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 10--4:52 p.m. A caller reported a theft of hunting and camping equipment at the Grays River Grange. 5:03 p.m. A Columbia Street resident reported a verbal disturbance between two parties. 6:23 p.m. An East Valley Road resident reported a squatter. A deputy made contact and found the man claimed to be a relative to the property owner and was camping. 8:31 p.m. An Altoona-Pillar Rock Road resident reported a pickup truck had been parked next to his property for four days and was blocking the roadway. A deputy investigated. 8:39 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Salmon Creek address to aid a 28-year-old male who had been in an earlier car accident and who was now shaking and in pain.

September 11--6:45 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by the drivers of two vehicles who were driving back and forth, regarding an ownership dispute over a motorcycle. A deputy made contact. 7:54 p.m. A local shelter reported a suspicious man asking for information on a resident. A deputy responded.

September 12--8:44 a.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and a District Four fire crew responded to a car that had rolled over and was upside down in a ditch on SR 4 near Elochoman Valley Road. 11:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the health clinic to transport a 61-year-old male with a neck injury to the hospital. 3:31 p.m. The Grays River fire department responded to a suspected brush fire. 5:03 p.m. A caller reported a person acting suspiciously alongside SR4, sitting down on the fog line. State patrol was notified. 5:19 p.m. A caller reported a burglary at a West SR 4 business. 5:47 p.m. A caller reported seeing two explosives being thrown into the river at Coffee Pot Island. 9:32 p.m. After a caller reported a truck with a trailer was being driven erratically, a deputy made a traffic stop. He found that the driver was tired and was going to pull over to rest.

September 13--A caller reported a suspicious woman with an open container of alcohol was prowling vehicles on Broadway Street.

September 14--9:04 a.m. A Salmon Creek Road resident reported a case of identity theft. A deputy attempted to make contact. 6:19 p.m. A West SR 4 resident reported that a dog had killed his chickens. The caller had fired a shotgun into the air to chase the dog away. A deputy was advised. 6:26 p.m. A caller on a boat anchored just outside the Elochoman Slough Marina requested assistance with a trapped anchor. Deputies responded on a patrol boat, dislodged the anchor and towed the boat into dock.

September 15--5:57 p.m. An SR 409 resident reported that a quad bike was racing on the highway. A deputy investigated and found the ATV driver was making repairs to the vehicle and testing it on the roadway. He was advised to keep off the highway.

September 16--12:14 p.m. A Columbia Street resident reported a case of child abuse after a man allegedly slapped his daughter in the face. 2:06 p.m. A Greenwood Road resident reported a boy was trespassing on his property and driving his wife's car. A deputy investigated and found that the caller's daughter had given the boy permission to be there. 11:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Jacobson Road address to aid a 75-year-old woman with abdominal pain.
