Photographer returns for Redmen Hall show

Deal exhibited at Redmen Hall last year and is returning for a one man exhibit. His work takes a unique view of the environment, concentrating on the architecture of negative and positive space.

The exhibit, entitled "As I See It," will open October 6 with a reception for the photographer at 1 p.m. The exhibit will run through the weekend of November 17-18 and will be followed the next weekend by the annual Holiday Open House.

Redmen Hall is located at 1394 SR-4 in Skamokawa and is open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Seal River Cemetery board gives update

submitted by

Kari Kandoll

The Seal River Cemetery Association is in the process of applying for its Articles of Incorporation with the State of Washington as well as non-profit status with the IRS. Although the cemetery dates back to May, 1889, the paperwork was done in old Finnish and never filed with the Washington Territory or in Oregon State governments.

The biggest need of the cemetery is the long term mowing options. The Naselle Youth Camp mows once a year and then we do a clean-up day once or twice a year, but if there is a burial the cemetery may not look good because the grass has not been mowed in a few months. Regular maintenance is really needed.

Current officers are president Eddie Wirkkala, vice-president Gene Strong, treasurer Mary (Kandoll) Vik, and secretary Kari (Teeter) Kandoll. Other board members are Dan Kandoll, Louise (Kandoll) Johnson, Kristina (Kandoll) Perez and Gail (Wirkkala) Heppner. Kari Kandoll can be reached at (360) 849-4353 or by e-mail at kando@centurytel.net where the records are stored.
