Sheriff's Report - October 25, 2012

 

October 25, 2012



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 15--10:50 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Columbia Street address to aid a man who was vomiting blood. 1:23 p.m. A caller reported that SR 4 was flooding at Seal River Road. Emergency Management was notified. 1:26 p.m. A caller reported that the roadway on the Puget Island bridge was damaged and that there were chunks all over the road. DOT was notified. 10:05 p.m. Deputies and the Grays River ambulance responded to a vehicle accident on SR 4 in Rosburg. The driver had fled the vehicle after driving into a ditch.

October 16--12:23 a.m. The Cathlamet fire department responded to a burning transformer on W. Little Island Road. 10:52 a.m. A 2nd Street resident reported that she believed her home had been vandalized. Neighbors reported seeing gusts of wind knock over flower pots the previous night, thought to be the reason for the vandalism. 1:20 p.m. A Barr Road resident reported that someone was hunting on her property despite the "No Hunting" signs. A deputy was advised. 3:21 p.m. A caller reported that her son had been driving home and was cut off by a small, green vehicle causing him to swerve into a wall. 11:22 p.m. A caller reported hearing four or five shots fired in the area of the Skamokawa bridge. State patrol was advised.

October 17--8:41 a.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported that Republican political signs had been knocked over. The caller believed a certain political party was behind the destruction. 12:22 p.m. A Fossil Creek Road resident reported people were stripping out a motor home by the side of the road. Deputies were advised. 12:26 p.m. A caller reported a case of child sexual assault. A deputy investigated. 12:50 p.m. A South Welcome Slough Road resident reported a burglary. 4:13 p.m. A Salmon Creek Road resident reported that someone was living in their carport after finding food and water. The caller believed some metal had also been stolen. A deputy investigated. 4:31 p.m. A caller reported a drug deal at a Jacobson Road address. 6:15 p.m. A caller reported that her 10-year-old foster daughter had gone missing. The girl was located later in the evening.

October 18--11:06 a.m. Information was received that the Ferry Wahkiakum had been closed down. The ferry was operating again by 6 p.m. that evening. 2:28 p.m. A Morgan Drive resident reported that his social security check had been stolen. 5:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the fairgrounds to aid a woman with abdominal pain. 5:56 p.m. A caller reported people were bugling to elk near Elochoman Valley Road. 6:27 p.m. A Jacobson Road resident reported a strong smell of marijuana from a neighbor's house.

October 19--A caller reported a strong smell of marijuana coming from a car travelling on the ferry. 9:41 a.m. A caller reported that a 16' boat had sunk on South Welcome Slough. A deputy was notified. 11:09 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a West SR 4 residence to aid an elderly female who had fallen. 12:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Jacobson Road address to aid a person with high blood sugar. 2:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Randal Drive address to aid a man who was unable to move.

October 20--The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a South Welcome Slough Road residence to aid a 25-year-old male who had fallen and possibly had a seizure. 1:05 p.m. An East Sunny Sands resident reported a burglary and a door that had been broken down. 6:17 p.m. A Wildflower Lane resident reported batteries had been stolen from a motor home and a boat from his father's address. A deputy was advised. 8:44 p.m. An East Little Island Road resident reported a man who had been drinking was causing a disturbance.

October 21--The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley Road address to aid a man with chest pain. 11:37 p.m. A caller reported that someone had shot a deer 100 yards from an Elochoman Valley Road residence. 6:24 p.m. Deputies responded to a Middle Valley Road address to arrest a man on an outstanding warrant.
