Sheriff's Report - April 25, 2103

 

April 25, 2013



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 15—3:33 p.m. Cathlamet firefighters responded to a brush fire along Columbia Street.

April 16—6:37 a.m. A caller reported that a black suitcase-type object had been left overnight in a parking area at the high school near the recycling containers. A deputy responded and recovered a band instrument. The instrument was taken to the school office. 11:01 a.m. A caller reported a potential bomb threat. Deputies took a report. 3:46 p.m. A caller reported that grass clippings were getting blown onto their road and explained that the clippings are a traffic hazard to motorcyclists as they become slick when wet. A deputy was advised. 7:57 p.m. A caller reported multiple instances of children under the legal age driving motorized vehicles on the roadway without helmets. A deputy was advised. 10:11 p.m. A caller reported that someone was sleeping in the bathroom at a city park. A deputy was advised.

April 17—7:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to transport an 86-year-old man with back pain to a hospital. 11:26 a.m. A caller reported that someone was fraudulently using her social security number. 2:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a woman having a diabetic emergency. 7:51 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a family member.

April 18—4:29 a.m. A caller reported suspicious activity outside a local business. 3:46 p.m. A caller reported that a motorcyclist was speeding in a residential area. 5:53 p.m. A caller reported that a 19-foot boat was stranded near County Line Park. 8:58 p.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported that the water coming from their taps was brown. The city Public Works department was notified.

April 19—5:24 a.m. A caller reported that an unfamiliar vehicle was parked at a neighbor’s vacant home. A deputy was notified. 11:42 a.m. A caller reported that a loose dog had killed two chickens and a turkey the previous day. 2:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a medical clinic to transport an 83-year-old female with chest pain. 4:12 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance, and District 4 firefighters responded to the scene of a single-car motor vehicle accident along SR4 near the school access road. 10:25 p.m. A caller reported that a woman was walking through people’s yards and picking flowers.

April 20—12:10 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by a neighbor. 12:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a 53-year-old female who was ill. 6:55 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle headed eastbound on SR4 near the Grays River Methodist Church was driving erratically and crossing lanes. A deputy made contact with the vehicle near Miller Road. 8:36 p.m. A caller reported hitting a deer near County Line Park. A deputy removed the deer from the roadway.

April 21—7:29 a.m. A caller reported that a calf was loose along Elochoman Valley Road. A deputy responded. 8:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a person who was having breathing difficulties due to asthma. 1:08 p.m. A caller reported being threatened. A deputy responded and spoke with the parties, who agreed to work out the situation amongst themselves.
