Sheriff's Report - May 30, 2013

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 26—6:12 a.m. A caller reported that vehicles on their way to the Puget Island boat launch had been driving erratically and that one driver had nearly hit the caller. 8:37 a.m. A caller reported that a young child had been driving a go-kart on county roads for the last several days. A deputy was advised, but could not locate the driver. 3:01 p.m. A caller reported that a large turkey that had wandered onto the caller’s property would not leave and was scaring the caller’s children. 4:10 p.m. A caller reported that inappropriate contact had occurred between an adult male and a juvenile female. A Charlotte House advocate was contacted for the victim, and a deputy investigated. 4:43 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance, deputies, and District 4 firefighters responded to the scene of an ATV rollover accident. A woman was transported to a hospital via Life Flight. 6:37 p.m. A caller reported that two horses were loose along Elochoman Valley Road. The horses’ owner secured them.

May 27—11:30 a.m. A caller reported that she had lost her wallet in the vicinity of Elochoman Marina. 8:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 54-year-old man with acute abdominal pain.

May 28—8:23 a.m. District 4 firefighters responded to a residence where there was a strong propane odor. The firefighters ventilated the residence. 8:24 a.m. A caller reported that a disabled log truck was blocking the westbound lane of SR4 near Fossil Creek. State Patrol was notified. 8:26 a.m. A caller reported that parts of a forklift had been stolen from a construction site over the weekend. 8:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 70-year-old man that was ill. 10:09 a.m. Cowlitz authorities advised that a hit-and-run driver was headed westbound on SR4 from Longview. 2:07 p.m. A caller reported that cattle were loose near a Skamokawa business. The animals’ owner was contacted. 2:10 p.m. A caller reported the theft of a handgun a year ago. A deputy investigated. 10:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having an allergic reaction. 11:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly woman who had fallen.

May 29—1:21 a.m. A caller reported receiving harassing text messages. Deputies were advised. 2:48 a.m. A caller reported that they had heard suspicious noises behind their residence. The caller reported that they heard someone cursing when a deputy arrived to check out the scene. 10:02 a.m. A power outage was reported near Skamokawa. A PUD crew responded. 2:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 78-year-old man with blood clots in his lungs. 4:32 p.m. A caller requested that a deputy be present when they left their workplace due to an earlier interaction with angry clients. 9:28 p.m. A caller reported discovering people living in a travel trailer on DNR-owned property.

May 30—9:50 a.m. A caller reported the theft of refrigerators. 10:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 27-year-old woman who was having a seizure. 11:19 a.m. A caller reported that people were trespassing on a private beach. 1:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 66-year-old woman who had fallen. 1:47 p.m. A sexual assault was reported. 2:18 p.m. A burglary was reported. 4:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 52-year-old man who was experiencing a suspected overdose. 7:25 p.m. A caller requested to file a complaint regarding an assault with a firearm that had occurred three weeks previously. An officer spoke with the caller. 7:30 p.m. A caller requested extra patrols in the area where items were stored for an upcoming event. 10:06 p.m. A person was taken into custody after a traffic stop near Nassa Point.

May 31—8:15 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on family members. An officer was notified. 8:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who had fallen. 10:57 a.m. A caller reported that lawn clippings were getting blown onto the road and that they had become slick and were a hazard to motorcyclists. A deputy was advised. 11:47 a.m. A caller reported the theft of a package valued at $200 that had been left at their side door. An officer spoke with the caller. 1:08 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 67-year-old man with a possible broken shoulderblade. 2:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance stopped at Coal Creek Road to aid a woman complaining of a head injury.

June 1—10:42 a.m. A caller reported that a neighbor had damaged a fence. 1:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 66-year-old woman who had fallen. 1:56 p.m. A caller reported seeing a swarm of bees in the vicinity of Angle Street. The caller was given contact information for beekeepers in Longview.

June 2—11:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an 84-year-old woman who had fallen and was bleeding from her head. 11:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a patient with breathing difficulty. The patient was transported by Life Flight to a Vancouver hospital. 1:40 p.m. A caller reported concerns about a man living in a vehicle. 1:43 p.m. A caller reported that a customer who had been asked to leave the property had refused to comply. 2:14 p.m. A caller reported seeing smoke coming from a neighbor’s residence. District 4 firefighters responded. 4:06 p.m. A caller reported the theft of money from a purse. A deputy investigated. 7:29 p.m. A caller reported finding a fawn with a broken leg. The caller was given contact information for a wildlife rescue center in Astoria. WDFW was notified. 8:16 p.m. A caller reported that a neighbor’s dog had injured animals. A deputy contacted the dog’s owner to advise them about the need to secure the animal and actions that might occur if the dog remained running loose. 8:31 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 79-year-old woman whose pacemaker had activated.
