Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 5— 12:53 p.m. A caller reported finding a black lab puppy at the swimming pool. 4:31 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person who had made suicidal remarks. An officer made contact. 8:04 p.m. A caller reported that a group of young children were operating a tractor on a county road. 8:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a request for a lift assist.

August 6— 6:46 a.m. A caller reported a diesel spill on a roadway. State Patrol was notified. 5:18 p.m. A caller reported that a handgun had been stolen within the last two to three weeks. An officer investigated. 6:39 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 66-year-old man with a diabetic emergency. 8:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who was ill and experiencing chest pain. The patient was transported by LifeFlight to a hospital. 9:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a 65-year-old woman with chest pain.

August 7— 1:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a 17-year-old who had overdosed. 2:11 p.m. A caller reported that vandalism had occurred over the weekend at the wastewater treatment plant construction site. 2:34 p.m. A caller reported finding trash that had been thrown over the fence into an electrical substation enclosure. 8:53 p.m. A caller reported that he had hit a deer on SR4 near Seal River Road.

August 8— 12:26 a.m. A caller reported that six kids wearing dark clothing were walking along SR 409 near the Puget Island Bridge. State Patrol was advised. 5:01 a.m. A caller reported that a 61-year-old woman had died. The coroner responded. 11:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 20-year-old man who was semi-conscious. 5:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a person who had been injured in an ATV accident. 7:35 p.m. Deputies arrested two men on outstanding warrants after they were observed trespassing on posted property. 8:34 p.m. A caller reported that three boys were missing. They had not returned after heading to a river to go swimming five hours previously. They were located by Grays River firefighters. 9:54 p.m. A caller reported receiving threatening text messages. 11:31 p.m. One person was taken into custody after a caller reported that a man was committing malicious mischief.

August 9— 8:27 a.m. A caller reported that a neighbor’s dogs were barking loudly. A deputy made contact. 9:18 a.m. A caller reported that someone had been shooting rifles in the neighborhood until 11:30 p.m. the previous night. A deputy made contact. 11:40 a.m. A caller reported that four outbuildings had been burglarized within the last two weeks. 12:16 p.m. Local fire departments responded to a house and barn fire on Eden Valley Road. 12:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 27-year-old who was weak and nauseous due to high blood sugar. 1:53 p.m. A caller reported that a car had been parked in a business’s parking lot for a week. 3:08 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance. 6:34 p.m. A caller reported that a 79-year-old woman was deceased. The coroner responded. 6:54 p.m. A caller reported that youths riding quads on the road were creating a traffic hazard. 8:15 p.m. A caller reported the theft of fishing poles and tackle from two tents.

August 10— 9:53 a.m. District 4 firefighters extinguished a yard debris fire because the resident did not have a current burn permit. 10:10 a.m. A caller reported that a bull was loose on Risk Road. The animal’s owner was notified. 11:13 a.m. A caller reported trespassers were cutting brush. 11:45 a.m. A caller reported seeing four unattended fishing poles with lines in the water. State Patrol was notified. 2:30 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 61-year-old man having an allergic reaction to a bee sting. 3:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 61-year-old man who had fallen. 3:57 p.m. A caller reported that someone had broken into a barn.

August 11— 9:16 a.m. A caller reported that a loose dog was chasing ducks. The dog’s owner was notified. 10:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and District 4 firefighters responded to aid a man with back pain after a fall. 1:05 p.m. One person was taken into custody on a Department of Corrections warrant after officers responded to a domestic disturbance. 2:28 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person who had missed an appointment. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported that a small kitten was stuck on one of the girders under the Puget Island bridge. 8:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and District 4 firefighters responded to aid a 40-year-old woman who was experiencing stroke symptoms. The woman was transported via LifeFlight to a hospital.
