September 11, 2013



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 2--12:32 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Loop Road resident having seizures. 2:04 p.m. A brush fire was reported in Rosedale; a deputy responded and notified resident that it was an illegal burn. 2:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island residence for an ailing infant. 3:43 p.m. A caller reported shots being fired on Beaver Creek Road near the fish hatchery; a deputy responded and found that blanks were being used during a dog training exercise. 8:08 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa business to aid a woman complaining of pain in her left side. 8:23 p.m. A caller reported that someone had painted graffiti on concrete in Rosedale; a deputy took pictures and added information to prior complaint. 8:38 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being harassed by neighbor; a deputy was advised. 9:16 p.m. Cowlitz County authorities called to report an assault in Oak Point area; a deputy responded and was told it was a misunderstanding. 10:23 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being harassed; a deputy responded.

September 3—5:26 a.m. An alarm sounded for the Westend water system; the PUD was notified and a crew responded. 7:19 a.m. A caller reported hunters were blocking a logging road in the Elochoman; a Fish and Wildlife agent was notified. 11:28 a.m. A two vehicle accident occurred in Skamokawa; no injuries were reported. 2:46 p.m. A Rosedale business reported that a customer prepaid 25 dollars for gas and drove off after pumping $90 worth of gas. 3:50 p.m. A property manager reported the theft of a water heater and wood stove from an unoccupied Puget Island house.

September 4—3:05 a.m. A deputy responded to a residential alarm in the West Valley area; deputy reported that nothing seemed to be disturbed or missing. 8:59 a.m. A caller reported seeing a suspicious man siphoning gas from vehicles on Little Island.

September 5—6:26 p.m. A Grays River resident reported a power outage; the PUD was notified. 9:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale Heights resident who complained of weakness from earlier fall.

September 6—9:57 a.m. A motorist reported a fallen tree in one lane of SR 4 near Skamokawa; the state patrol was notified. 4:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet resident. 5:58 p.m. A caller reported that juveniles were smoking something other than tobacco near a River Street business. 7 p.m. A motorist reported running into a deer on the Elochoman Valley Road. 10:41 p.m. A caller reported seeing suspicious men, possibly metal thieves, sitting in a vehicle parked near the ferry landing.

September 7—9:21 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported an assault. 1:20 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported an assault. 1:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a man who reported an assault. 1:36 p.m. A one vehicle traffic accident happened near Nassa Point; no injuries were reported. 2:14 p.m. A caller reported a possibly drunk driver on SR 4 in Skamokawa; the state patrol was notified. 2:23 p.m. The Grays River fire department responded to a report of smoke and found a fifth wheel trailer on fire. 6:33 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that dog appeared to have been pepper sprayed; a deputy responded. 7:06 p.m. A Rosedale business reported a theft. 8:38 p.m. A traffic accident was reported at the elk viewing turnout on SR 4 near Risk Rd; the state patrol was notified and on scene.

September 8—12:27 a.m. A motorist called to report an injured dog alongside SR 4 in Deep River area; attempts were made to contact owner. 12:46 a.m. A caller reported a resident threatening suicide; Mental Health was notified. 3:33 a.m. A caller reported two juveniles had broken a Rosedale business window and were urinating behind residence; a deputy responded. 5:11 a.m. A Cathlamet business reported a broken window. 1:33 p.m. A caller reported graffiti in Erickson Park; a juvenile was taken into custody. 8:18 p.m. A motorist reported hitting a deer in Rosedale area; a deputy responded and animal was removed from roadway. 8:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an East Valley resident with breathing problems.

September 9—6:54 a.m. A caller reported boat sinking in marina; the port manager was notified.
