Voters who have trouble with the now common vote-by-mail system may vote in the Wahkiakum and Cowlitz county auditor's offices by using a voting machine.
The AutoMARK is a ballot marking machine equipped with audio and visual technology that allows voters with vision, reading, and mobility issues who cannot mark their ballot in the usual way, vote privately and independently.
According to information from the Wahkiakum County Auditor's Office, the AutoMARK is easy to use, magnifies ballots, reads ballots, marks ballots, and is accurate and secure.
The AutoMARK will be available at the auditor’s office, 64 Main Street, in Cathlamet, beginning 18 days before an election during business hours, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m., and on election day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters should bring the balloting materials received in the mail. Elections officials will be on hand to provide any assistance needed.
