Brewery matching tips for grandstand work

October 9, 2014

Drop Anchor Brewery in Cathlamet wants to help Wahkiakum School District improve its ailing football stadium grandstand.

Part of Drop Anchor Brewery’s business plan is to be involved in the community, but when it comes to the local school district, the brewery’s investors worry that the nature of their business hinders them from giving.

“It’s difficult trying to help the high school,” Richard Erickson said, “because those are kids and we’re alcohol. When this grandstand thing came up, it seemed like a natural fit.”

“We decided that we would like to help build their grandstand.”

The investors came up with a plan to match the tips and donations that they receive at Drop Anchor in a two week period ending Saturday, October 11, when the brewery closes at 8 p.m.

There is a donation bucket at the brewery. Drop Anchor is open from 4-8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
