Louise Takehara Lyda

August 6, 2015

Louise Nenoka Takehara Lyda, 97, of Cathlamet, WA, went home to the Lord on Sunday morning, August 2, 2015. She was born on November 17, 1917 to Nenoki and Mae Emmaline (Eylar) Takehara in Bonners Ferry Idaho and gave her heart to Jesus in 1932.

She was married to Thomas Woodrow Lyda (deceased 1998) on February 12, 1936 in Davenport, WA. They had one daughter, Linda Louise Cardin of Longview and a son Thomas L. Lyda (deceased) of Longview; seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Louise, Tom and their children lived in Packwood from 1936 – 1961 where Louise ran the general store, served as the Postmistress and was the Sunday school teacher and superintendent at the Assembly of God Church. The family then moved to Cathlamet in 1961 where Louise worked at a Longview papermill, volunteered at the local food bank and was again an integral member of her church, the Cathlamet River of Life Assembly of God, serving as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, a member of the WWMs and a Vacation Bible School teacher just to name a few.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Cathlamet with the Rev. Mark Phillips officiating. Because Louise so loved a good potluck we would like to invite everyone to join us in a potluck remembrance, after the graveside service, at the Cathlamet River of Life Assembly of God. Memorial contributions can be made to Cathlamet River of Life Assembly of God, 45 Main St., Cathlamet, WA 98612.

Arrangements are by Dowling Funeral Home, Cathlamet.
