Sheriff's Report, November 5, 2015

 

November 5, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 26 — 8:01 p.m. A parent in a custodial dispute complained that she was being harassed when her former spouse showed up at their children’s sporting events in Cathlamet. The former spouse’s presence required her to leave, she said, according to a court order. 8:22 p.m. The sheriff’s department transported a juvenile to the Cowlitz/Wahkiakum county line to be transferred to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office. 9:28 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a young Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing.

October 27 — 8:34 a.m. A Deep River resident reported a stolen vehicle. It turned out to be a civil matter. 9:46 a.m. Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle in an Elochoman Valley ditch. No one was injured. The county road department sent a backhoe and cleared the road and a tow truck was en route. 10:01 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was experiencing chest pain and having trouble breathing. 1:14 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a neighbor’s dogs were harassing his turkeys. The resident said that the dogs had given one of his turkeys a heart attack and that it was now lame. The resident and his neighbors are currently involved in a property dispute and a criminal case.


October 28 — 4:26 p.m. A Puget Island resident found three cows on his property. The owner was notified. 5:30 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a lost dog. 8:44 p.m. A motorist was taken to St. John’s Hospital; his guns were turned over to a responsible party and a tow truck was called after he failed a sobriety test during a vehicle stop on Puget Island. 9:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having chest pain. LifeFlight was unable to respond due to the weather.

October 29 — 11:30 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a Cathlamet school. 1:51 p.m. An alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. 9:03 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing a sinking boat. Deputies were unable to locate the vessel.


October 30 — 1:18 a.m. A car was found on its side in a ditch on Puget Island with empty beer cans strewn around it. 8:07 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a pregnant clinic patient to the hospital. The patient had low blood pressure and was not feeling well. 11:49 a.m. A power outage was reported in the Elochoman Valley. The PUD was notified. 11:58 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire started by a downed power line in the Elochoman Valley. 2:24 p.m. A caller reported a boulder on SR 4 just east of Stella. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported that a business had listed her phone number on their website. The business was notified and the owner said that the number had been his at one time and that he would look into it. 3:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was complaining of possible cellulitis. 4:40 p.m. A mail box was destroyed and a culvert damaged in the Elochoman Valley. It appeared to have been done by a large vehicle traveling south and crossing over to the opposite ditch. 4:50 p.m. A theft was reported at the marina in Cathlamet.


October 31 — 4:23 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with chest pain. 8:07 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to the report of a power outage in multiple locations in Deep River. The PUD was notified. 10:37 a.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report that residents were unable to turn off the water at a Puget Island address. The PUD was notified. 11:38 a.m. A deputy was requested at a non injury accident between a dump truck and vehicle in the Elochoman Valley. 11:52 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a power outage on Puget Island. The PUD was notified. 1:41 p.m. The west end of Covered Bridge Road was closed due to high water. It was opened again at 10:45 p.m. 1:59 p.m. A caller reported a large tree down, blocking one lane of a Rosburg road. 4:01 p.m. A caller reported a tree down, blocking one lane of a Skamokawa road. 5:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 6:03 p.m. A caller reported rocks on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 10:17 p.m. A dog was found in the Rosburg area.

November 1 — 7:59 a.m. A caller reported pumpkins on a Cathlamet street. Road crews were already at work. 9:04 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a smoking telephone pole in Rosburg. The PUD was notified. 9:08 a.m. A caller reported a non-injury car accident on Puget Island. A tow truck was called. 10:51 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that keys were missing or had been stolen. They were later found. 1:10 p.m. A vehicle was found in an East Valley creek. The driver could not be located. Deputies, the Skamokawa Fire Department, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded, as well as a tow truck. A team from Cowlitz County Technical Rescue responded, as did Wahkiakum Search and Rescue. A body was found at 9:48 a.m. the next day. 2:07 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a caller reported that an individual who allegedly owed his girlfriend money had run over his foot with a vehicle. The caller was told not to return to the property at the driver’s parents request and the driver was taken into custody for a Cowlitz County warrant. 2:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with chest pain. 3:14 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident with low blood pressure. 5:59 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a missing dog.
