Sheriff's Report, June 23, 2016

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 13 — 9:35 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a student lost consciousness in a Cathlamet school gym. 11:41 a.m. A caller reported that vehicles were speeding up and down a road on Puget Island every day. 11:52 a.m. A caller reported that a couple pigs were running loose on the golf course in Cathlamet. 12:34 p.m. A caller reported that a convicted felon in Cathlamet was a gun owner. 3:08 p.m. A caller reported an unknown truck at an Elochoman Valley residence. The caller said that someone was going through the homeowner’s things. A deputy made contact with three individuals at the residence. They claimed they knew the owner and were attempting to contact him. The deputy informed them that they were trespassing and warned that if they returned they would be arrested.

June 14 — 11:06 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident. A deputy made contact; the resident was fine. 12:58 p.m. A caller reported a cow elk with hoof rot at a Cathlamet cemetery. 1:31 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident. A deputy made contact. 2:06 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Deep River resident. A deputy responded; no one was home. 4:26 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east county home. A deputy found a second floor window open but everything else was secure. 10:15 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that people on the river were screaming. Washington State Patrol and a deputy responded. Three people were taken to the sheriff’s office for driving with a suspended license before they were returned to a Grays River home.

June 15 — 9:21 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a juvenile in Grays River. 9:41 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded when a Grays River resident stopped breathing. Deputies were already there administering CPR and Lifeflight was activated. 1:15 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had struck a deer on SR 4 in the Grays River area. 2:14 p.m. A caller reported a distressed man on SR 4 in Deep River. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported that someone had vandalized and stolen property from his Elochoman Valley home. 4:32 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east county home.

June 16 — 12:07 a.m. An alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. The sheriff’s office attempted to contact a responsible party. 10:23 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Grays River resident. 4:41 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east county residence. 5:16 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down on a Puget Island road.

June 17 — 3:50 p.m. A caller reported that a Cathlamet resident had more than 20 kittens in her home and that some had medical problems. The caller also said there was a dead litter behind the home. The Humane Society was contacted and a veterinarian in Naselle said she would take the kittens with medical problems if someone could transport them that day. The caller was not willing to do that. A deputy investigated alternatives for transporting the ailing kittens to the vet. 4:24 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported malicious mischief when a spouse cut a power cord to a compressor during a civil standby. 5:06 p.m. A dog was found in the Little Cape Horn area.

June 18 — 5:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 7:19 a.m. A boater complained that a fishing guide was harassing him and had anchored right next to him. 11:57 a.m. A caller reported that a driver was speeding and passing in a no passing zone on SR 4. 2:21 p.m. A caller found an open door at a Cathlamet address and asked a deputy to do a walk through before she entered. 7:01 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle had passed his home in Skamokawa several times and he believed they were shooting farther up the road. A deputy responded and asked the individuals to move farther away from the houses. 7:33 p.m. A caller reported a burglary at his Deep River home. Medications had been taken. 8:51 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who had fainted. 9:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was activated. There were no details.

June 19 — 7:11 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having a seizure. The resident signed a refusal. 7:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had chest pain. 9:36 a.m. A burglary was reported at an Elochoman Valley home. 12:13 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having a seizure. 1:51 p.m. A caller reported speeding vehicles on a Cathlamet street. 5:17 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4. 5:26 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who had a seizure. 5:53 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4. 6:38 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a trespasser. The person accused of trespassing called and said that he was being yelled at and that he had not trespassed. A deputy spoke with both parties. The landowner said that she would like the individual to be formally charged if he returns. 7:03 p.m. A dog was found on Beaver Creek. The owners were located.
