Westend news:

Okay, folks, last week I mentioned the Wahkiakum Vibes music group in my column. Here’s your chance to join in, sing along or just listen to some great music and enjoy a fun evening.

Calling all musicians and singers, for the January Open Mic Music Night which will be held on Sunday in the Skamokawa Grange Hall #425. Signups begin at 2:45 p.m. if you would like to join in and the session begins at 3 p.m. A jam session will follow the event.

This event is free, but donations to the Skamokawa Grange #425 are always welcome and the coffee is always on. For more information, please call Jerry Ledtke at 360 795-3434.

Only two more weeks to get your tickets for the annual Crab and Oyster Feed sponsored by the American Legion Deep River Post #111, being held on January 27, 6 p.m. I’ve got mine and was told that there are still some available, but remember that there are only 200 tickets being sold and the cost is $28 per person. Tickets can be purchased from Ken Elliott 465-2274, Nick Nikkila 465-2595 or Dale Rose 465-2234.

You are welcome to bring your own snacks, dipping sauces, butter and utensils for cracking open the crab and oysters as these items are not provided. The menu includes crab, oysters, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw and garlic bread.

The King Brothers Band will provide music for dancing and listening pleasure until midnight.

Proceeds from the event will support our veterans, youth and local charities.

Some of you may have noticed a SOLD sign on the Rosburg Store, and I can tell you it is true. Not sure of all the details yet but will keep everyone posted. I spoke with former owner, our very own Norm Bolton, and he says that it looks like the new owners will have the grocery store open and also serve food.

Happy Birthday to Annie Brown, Haleigh See, Evan Hendrickson, Noreen Fitts and Briane Smith. Wishing you an amazing day of celebration.

It seems like our men in blue have been targeted a lot lately, all over the country. I would like to say a huge thank you to our local sheriff’s office and Pacific County's as well, for all you do in our communities. You and your families give up a lot of personal family time for the work you do, and I for one appreciate each and every one of you. Keep up the good work and stay safe. Prayers for the families of fallen officers all over the country.
