The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Gift was from club based in Puget Sound

August 15, 2019

To The Eagle:

Last week’s Eagle had a nifty photo of my wife Judy presenting a $500 gift of animal rescue equipment and monetary canine program support to Sheriff Howie on behalf of the Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Island, with me, Under Sheriff Howell, drug dog Dakota and wolfhound Valley Girl framing the photo. All well and good, except there is no Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Island, so the photo may have left the impression that Judy and I had more to do with the donation than we actually did.

The gift was actually from the Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound. There are only three Irish wolfhound clubs on the west coast, the one in the Puget Sound area and two others in California (there’s a fourth in the Portland area, but it’s not an AKC affiliate). Most of us belong to several of them and are active with the one closest to home. So the photo op was acknowledgement of the generosity and best wishes of wolfhound fanciers up and down the west coast as represented by the Puget Sound club.
