Coming Events--Community Center in Cathlamet

October 24, 2019

The Hope Center and the Community Center have a lot going on these next few weeks. There is much volunteering and outreach coming together, it’s a beautiful thing.

I have been so moved by the comments left in the RAKs jar. If you aren’t a RAK’er yet, it’s time to join. Membership is free, you can participate at your own rate and the benefits are far reaching! Random Acts of Kindness never go out of style. The RAK jar is still living at Patty Cakes, so grab a coffee and take a moment to think about what has been done to you, or what you have done to someone else. You never know what somebody is going through, and your kindness may be more important than you know.

Tidy up the Town is this Saturday, and we will meet at 9 a.m., in front of the CC. Bring a pair of gloves and positive attitude. Few tools will be available, so please bring a rake or a pair of snips!

Wahkiakum Outdoors presents “Honeybees and Beekeeping” October 29 at 6:30 p.m., at the Hope Center (3rd and Maple Streets). Bill Holmes, President of Cowlitz Beekeepers Association, is a wealth of knowledge on this incredibly important topic.

The lovely ladies who continue to “Dress a Girl” will meet at the CC Friday Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. These ladies know how to RAK!

Another wonderful woman, our local HCA community-based specialist, Rochelle Cothren, will be at the CC again on Nov. 6 from 10-12. If you have an open application in the WA health plan finder for WA Apple, and are having difficulties, Rochelle is who you need to see. She can also help you with renewal or correct errors on submitted applications.

On Nov. 14 at Johnson Park, I will cook up some delicious food for the clients of the Rosburg Food Pantry. We will have samples of soul-warming food that can be created right out of your food bank. I am excited about this because I love nothing more than to cook healthy food, made with love, to share. Looking forward to spending the day with some of the most kind-hearted people I know. If you are a client already, mark your calendars! Flyers and recipe info coming soon.

At the CC, everyone is welcome. Join in on the ongoing events at the community center such as the Walking group that meets at 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, Cribbage on Wednesday evening from 7-9, Sandra Sews on Thursdays at 10 a.m., Brown Bag at 11 a.m., on Fridays, and Free Movie Night from 7-9 p.m., Fridays.

If you have questions about scheduling or events, give us a buzz at 360-795-7870 Monday- Wednesday 9-1 p.m., or Thursdays from 9-noon.

“Let yourself be slightly drawn to the strange pull of what you really love, it will not lead you astray.” -RUMI
