So, back to the disputation about fact vs opinion, the latest round of which centered on Venice becoming the new Atlantis due to Trumpogenic climate change. Editor Rick’s contribution to the contretemps appeared in the editorial column under the rubric “Facts aren’t hard to find” and went on to list links to several fact-checking outfits he considers “trusted outside sources.” Ironically, he first cites the Associated Press, the provider of the yellow-journalistic anti-Trump articles in The Eagle that Mike Swift and I, among others, started objecting to a couple of years ago.

He lists snopes.com which is in charge of shadowbanning conservative info on Facebook. This is where info posted on your page is visible to you, but not to visitors – so you never know you’ve been banned. Politifact is a left wing propaganda organization run by some journalists from the Tampa Bay Times. Factcheck.org gets more mixed reviews. It’s owned by the Annenberg Foundation, which provided funds for a “charity venture” by retired domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and Barack Obama. Draw your own conclusions. NASA is a federal agency that has hopped on the global warming/climate change bandwagon to enhance its funding. They started with the ozone hole scam of 1987 and never looked back.

On the broader stage of the tech giants, Google has played an instrumental role in suppression of free speech in China; Facebook is a platform for political censorship and vicious cyberbullying of children; and Twitter has become a cybersewer and journalism crutch, with a few bright spots including our president’s bombastic and often humorous tweets. So our editor is quite right when he says that facts aren’t hard to find -- as long as they fit the sick and twisted Progressive narrative. Veracity and validity, not so much.

Here’s an opinion from the great journalist H.L. Mencken: “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”
